Artist Statement

Rebecca Gallagher is an abstract artist based in the Derbyshire dales, where she lives with her daughter, chihuahua and a lot of plants. She creates vivid, beautiful oil paintings in her home studio.

After studying art until A level, she ventured into archaeology, writing, jewellery making, running a business, all sorts, and eventually found herself back behind the canvas, painting full time and happier than ever.

She paints giant colourful oil paintings that are full of movement and emotion and power. Her paintings are like clouds or water or fire, you can stare into them and find patterns and faces, angels and monsters, animals or botanicals. In fact, that’s one of the things she loves the most about her art, seeing what you see and how it speaks to every single person differently. Rebecca also creates murals, commissions, woodcarvings, jewellery and illustrations.
