Artist Statement
Sarah is a self-taught artist who creates colourful and immersive landscape artworks. Her work offers a contemporary take on a traditional genre. Sarah’s paintings combine the joy of colour with the meditative outdoors, capturing moments of stillness within a landscape where reality and imagination meet. Sketching en plein air to capture fleeting sounds, feelings, colours, and textures; brings a 360° interpretation into studio works. Sarah works impulsively to apply first layers, building decisive compositions and intriguing marks; achieving works that are lively yet quietly observed. Inspired by the confidence of the post-impressionist artists Sarah is working towards semi-abstraction of landscape and thoroughly enjoying the experiments coming out of her studio. Sarah has produced a handful of solo exhibitions and had work included in gallery collaborations. She is also open for commissions, leading with story and connection to ensure her commissions are truly personal. Sarah is excited to share new work that feels fresh and unrestricted and reveal the motivations behind her work to everyone at the open event.
